LABOUR secure victory in the Lancaster City Council elections, with a husband and wife duo being separated by a single vote.
All 60 seats across 27 wards were up for grabs, with Labour claiming 29, ten more than the Conservatives.
The Green Party won nine seats with the Morecambe Bay Independent Party picking up two.
The Liberal Democrats could not manage a single seat while Paul Woodruff was the only Independent to be elected as he won the Halton-with-Aughton Ward.
Real drama took place in the Heysham Central Ward as Carla Brayshaw beat husband David Brayshaw by a single vote - Mr Brayshaw later revealed that he had voted for his wife.
Despite Labour's dominance, three Tory candidates picked up seats in the Bolton and Slyne Ward, securing a combined vote of more than 4,500, eclipsing the competition.
Conservative Nigel Goodrich is elected in the Silverdale Ward with 400 votes, just 42 more than his nearest challenger Sarah Fishwick.
