RAPPER Dappy has endorsed a challenger to Tim Farron's bid to become the next leader of the Liberal Democrats.

The N-Dubz musician tweeted a message of support for Norfolk North MP Norman Lamb to his 879,000 followers on Twitter.

His endorsement is not as unlikely as it sounds as Dappy is managed by Lamb’s son Archie.

It comes after Nick Clegg resigned in the wake of the party’s disastrous General Election performance.

The Liberal Democrats won only eight seats, down from 57.

Mr Farron, the MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale, declared his intention to run yesterday (Thursday), saying: "I want to be the person who helps our party fightback and give Britain the liberal voice it needs."

His campaign has so far been backed by the former equalities minister Jo Swinson, three of the party’s eight MPs (Greg Mulholland, Mark Williams and John Pugh), and the leaders of the Scottish and Welsh wings of the Liberal Democrats, Kirsty Williams and Willie Rennie.
