A 74-YEAR-old climber has died after falling on a crag near Austwick in the Yorkshire Dales yesterday (Thursday).
The woman was on Oxenber Scar when she fell head first while descending between climbs.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 5.30pm.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and her body was recovered by members of the Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO).
A CRO spokesperson said: “A climber fell, head first, while descending the ‘easy’ gully, between climbs.
“Arriving on scene, a Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedic pronounced her dead. After a brief police investigation, CRO members lifted her into a stretcher, which was then lowered from the crag and carried down to the roadhead.”
