VOLUNTEERS are being sought to train as history detectives to help investigate, record and document the fascinating history of Morecambe Bay.

Free training is being offered by the Morecambe Bay Partnership to investigate historic sites through the use of old maps, archived estate records, photographs and features in the landscape.

Four workshops will held in Arnside every Tuesday afternoon from June 2, with a full day workshop covering the same topics as the Tuesday sessions on June 6.

The workshops, hosted by archaeologist Dr Louise Parkinson, will focus on researching the intriguing sites of Jenny Brown’s Point and Warton Crag.

Volunteers will also get to experience a ‘behind the scenes’ evening visit to Lancashire Archives on June 10 and explore the sites they are investigating on June 21.

Only 15 places are available for each workshop and booking is essential to secure a place. Visit www.morecambebay.org.uk/events/documentary-research-arnside.
