PRE-loved outdoor clothing donated by generous individuals across the region is enabling people from disadvantaged backgrounds to enjoy the Yorkshire Dales countryside, no matter what the weather may throw at them.
Gift Your Gear takes unwanted waterproofs, fleeces, outdoor trousers, insulated jackets, gloves, hats and boots and donates them to community organisations, youth groups and charities across the UK, enabling others to benefit from life-changing experiences in the great outdoors, regardless of their circumstances.
Local charity Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) is ensuring that all the donated items are given a new lease of life through the Trust’s education and outreach work with disadvantaged groups.
The charity recently received a delivery of children’s waterproofs which were put to immediate use by a group of young carers, aged 8 - 14, from Leeds, who were able to stay warm, dry and comfortable in bad weather conditions during a trip to Malham.
