A DISNEY-loving singer from Swarthmoor hopes to dazzle the Britain's Got Talent judges at the show's live semi finals this week.

Georgie Jackson, 22, is to sing with girl group Misstasia before an audience of millions on the popular ITV show judged by Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon.

"I'm just a bit nervous at the moment," admitted Georgie, who will be cheered on by sister Nicky, mum Linda and dad Derrick during the live show at Wembley's Fountain Studios.

"They are more nervous than I am, and really pleased with me, really proud.

"They keep saying to me, even if you don't get through to the final, to get to the semi finals is such a big opportunity, considering only 45 people get to perform. They are proud of me no matter what."

As the Gazette went to press yesterday (Wednesday), Georgie and her three fellow group members were anxiously waiting by the phone to hear which of this week's live semi finals they were to appear on.

The grand final is this Sunday (May 31) when the winning act will secure their place at this year's Royal Variety Performance, plus a £250,000 prize.

"I would love to be in the Royal Variety Show," said Georgie, who attended Chetwynde School, Barrow-in-Furness, and Dowdales School, Dalton-in-Furness. "Our ultimate aim is to perform in a show at Disney as a band."

Georgie's love of performing arts began in her childhood, when she would put on 'little shows' for her mum.

Her talent was encouraged at Walney Junior Amateur Operatic Society and Abbey Music Society, and she went on to study musical theatre at the University of West London, where she became friends with Rosie Hale, eventually meeting Katie Lawrence and Enola Dyer and going on to form Misstasia.

The group's rendition of Part of Your World, from Disney movie The Little Mermaid, earned them four 'yeses' during the Britain's Got Talent auditions, and a standing ovation from judge Amanda Holden.

"It was very, very nerve-wracking and a long day," recalled Georgie. "The girls and I hadn't performed together in front of anyone before, so the first time we sang was to the judges.

"It was just overwhelming because the Dominion Theatre is in the West End and there were over 3,000 people there. It was daunting and we had the most famous judges in the world in front of us. They were all really lovely."

Georgie said the girls had yet to decide which song to perform in the live semi finals but "it will still be Disney".
