WINDS are slowly easing today after Cumbria was battered by gales overnight.
A yellow warning for wind is still in place until 6pm today (Tuesday), and a number of the county’s roads are being cleared of fallen trees.
The A592 has now re-opened both ways and traffic returned to normal after a fallen tree was removed between Ghyll Head Road and Fell Foot Brow.

Other roads affected by fallen trees and debris last night included Lake Road, Windermere, the A590 at Greenodd and Shap Road in Kendal.
The Met Office has forecasted some late sunshine this evening but also a few showers continuing in places.
Wednesday is set to be generally fine with some sunshine and light winds, while the rest of the week is forecast to be dry and bright with some showers.
