A FURNESS man has been jailed for over five years following a violent attack on a work colleague.

He pleaded guilty to section 18 wounding, threats to kill, and possession of a knife, at an earlier hearing.

The incident happened on November 15 2014 at Handmark Engineering, where Mr Williams worked at the time.

He had been having disagreements with a colleague, and on that Saturday entered the workplace, armed with a knife.

The victim, a 57-year-old man, sustained serious head injuries as a result of the attack.

DC Rachael Treharne, who led the case, said: “I am pleased that Williams has been brought before the courts to answer for his behaviour. Violence and threats will not be tolerated, and today’s result shows we are committed to prosecuting those found to be acting in this way.

“This has been a difficult and stressful time for Williams’ victim, however I hope today’s sentencing helps provide some closure.”
