DRIVERS are being warned of traffic disruption in Barrow as two huge casings for nuclear submarines are transported through the dock area of the town.
BAE Systems say a casing which will form part of the fifth Astute class submarine will be transported from Associated British Ports (APB) to the Devonshire Dock Hall via Michaelson Road and Bridge Road on Wednesday at 2.30pm.
The same route will be used for a second casing will be transported from ABP to the Devonshire Dock Hall on Thursday at 9:15 am.
A BAE spokesman said: "Both movements will take approximately 45 minutes and there will be minor disruption to traffic on Bridge Road, Michaelson Road and Walney roundabout during these times.
"Car parking along the centre of Michaelson Road will be unavailable from midnight on Tuesday until 1pm on Thursday, and all spaces will be cordoned off."
