A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an 85-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted with a paving stone.
Police officers were called by the ambulance service at around 11.45am today (Thursday, June 18) to the report of a woman suffering a serious head injury after being assaulted by a man with what is thought to be a paving stone at an address on School Road, Heysham.
She was unconscious and taken to Royal Preston Hospital by air ambulance for treatment where her condition is described as serious.
