MILITARY and civilian re-enactors will be out in force to join thousands of visitors in Operation Homeguard as part of this year’s Ingleton 1940s weekend.

Villagers will again turn back the clock for three days of nostalgia, starting next Friday, July 3, including a re-enactment of the liberation of a German-occupied market town in France by Allied forces.

The music of the time will play a major part – on the Friday evening there will be a Forties disco with Major Swing and on the Saturday evening there is a dance with the Mike Brown Swing Band.

The City of Bradford Pipe Band will lead a military parade through the village and wreaths will be laid at the war memorial.

Also featuring in the weekend are George Formby impersonator Colin Bourdiec, The Ovaltineys and the Helen Howard School of Dancing.
