A festival for young people mixing music with politics will take place in Kendal next year.

The event, exclusively for teenagers between the ages of 13 and 18,will feature local arts, up-and-coming musicians, good food and the chance for the young people to find out what politics means to them, on a local, national or even global level.

The White Noise Festival will take place at the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal in association with South Lakeland District Council in February 2016. It will include talks from politicians from all walks of life, so festival-goers can ask them the questions that matter.

A White Noise spokesman said: “Sometimes it's all very easy to tune out from all the political 'white noise,' and one of the aims of the festival is to get the facts in black and white, for politics to be an easy and accessible median for young people to get increasingly involved in.

“The festival is for young people, run by young people and so we need people to join our team.’’

For anyone interested in any of the things the festival will be presenting, who has a flair for writing, or just would like to spend time with like-minded people, festival organisers are holding an open evening on Saturday, July 18, starting at 6pm, in the Brewery Garden.

There they will be able to speak to members of the current team and possibly sign-up to become a member of the group.
