A FRIESIAN cow has given birth to all-female triplets on a South Lakes farm at odds of 700,000 to one.
The calves, born at the Nelson family's Alforth Farm, Heversham, last week, were natural births.
The odds against such a birth were set by experts from the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine, who describe a cow delivering same-sex triplets as 'a statistical miracle'.
Margaret Nelson, who runs the farm with her husband Brian and son Richard, who helped deliver the calves, said: "All three are doing very well. The mother has been managing to feed them but we'll shortly be taking them off and feeding them from the bucket."
