A NEWLY updated Mini Guide is set to help attract more visitors to the many delights Cumbria has to offer.

The Penrith Mini Guide has been produced by Eden District Council’s Tourism Team and the Penrith Business Improvement District (BID).

The authority's economic development portfolio holder, councillor David Hymers MBE, said: “Penrith’s updated Mini Guide features brand new photography which really does help to sell the town as a welcoming, friendly place with lots to see and do.

"Printed media is still greatly valued by visitors to the town and complements the other forms of web-based marketing which is carried out.”

Designed in a handy 1/3 A4 size leaflet “Visit Penrith” highlights six key visitor offers – History and Heritage, Penrith Landmarks, Specialist Shopping, Leisure, Walking and Cycling and Events and Exploring.

A new feature is a selection of sample itineraries designed to help visitors make the most of a visit if they are only here for a short time.

The publication also helps promotes the town’s fantastic food and drink offer and highlights the popular Totally Locally campaign that many Penrith businesses have signed up to.

Totally Locally is designed to appeal to both visitors and local people and aims to highlight how money spent locally benefits the town’s economy and community.

Copies of the mini guide are being circulated around Eden, Cumbria and beyond with the help of Northern Print Distribution who supply a wide range of public facing businesses with tourism literature.

In addition, Cumbria’s valuable network of Tourist Information Centres will also stock the leaflet including Penrith’s award-winning centre in Middlegate.

Visit Penrith is one of a series of town and themed mini guides produced by the council’s Tourism Team. For more information about the towns in Eden and the great variety of attractions please call in at one of the area’s TICs or look at www.visiteden.co.uk
