RESCUERS were called out in heavy rain after a report of an unconscious caver who had fallen.

Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation made their way to the caver's location at Ribblehead, near Ingleton, at 6.19pm yesterday (July 29).

During the significant cloudburst the team dispatched a Land Rover with members to assist the Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

A spokesperson for the team said: "The caver recovered sufficiently to make his way across the fell with help from his party and was transported by ambulance to hospital."
