A NEW “Walks from the Furness Line” leaflet has been officially launched at Grange station and are already being distributed to staffed stations across the north along with tourist information centres.

The leaflets have been produced by the Furness Line Community Rail Partnership and funded by the railway companies and Cumbria Tourism.

The new leaflet features eight walks from stations along the line including walks in Barrow and Dalton at one end and Silverdale at the other.

It has been designed to match the popular “Discover Cumbria by Train” leaflet and will match another new leaflet that is being produced to feature eight walks from the Lakes Line. So far, 50,000 copies have been produced.

Tim Owen, Chairman of the Furness Line Community Rail Partnership said: “This is another example of the partners working together to benefit the local community and visitors to the area. The leaflet will encourage people to travel by train and then enjoy walks and refreshments at destinations all along the line”.

The Bentham Line CRP has also recently launched six leaflets describing walks from stations along the line between Heysham and Bentham.
