GRANGE-over-Sands has gone mad for crazy golf with the official opening of a new course on the promenade.

Designers, creators, volunteers and funders were invited to the 'teeing off' ceremony. They included Robin Le Mar, the inspiration behind the original design, with its theme of landmarks and features in and around the Edwardian seaside town, and local blacksmith and engineer Philip Dalton, who developed the design further.

Liz Cornford, chair of Grange Prom Youth Project, described how the idea first began ten years ago after listening to young people's wishes for 'somewhere to go and something to do' in Grange.

Liz formed the youth project, and a number of parents, councillors and PC Colin Morris joined the committee, giving their time and energy to raise funds to revamp the promenade recreation ground with a kickabout area on a derelict tennis court, a skateboard zone with ramps, a shelter, table tennis table and scooter ramps.
