STUDENT Zanna Messenger-Jones, 18, from Ireleth, has been shortlisted for the 'Inspirational Young Person' award in the 2015 Signature annual awards, drawn up by the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS), after she campaigned against Government plans to cut back support for disabled students.
With help and guidance from NDCS, Zanna led a campaign against the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills over its failure to consult directly with disabled students about their plans to make changes to Disabled Students’ Allowance.
Winners will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony at the Museum of Science & Industry, Manchester, on Friday October 9.
