A callous threat to life and property, from low flying military jets, exists unnecessarily over mainland Britain daily!
My property in the Lake District is actually used as a ‘target’! Staff and visitors are all too regularly thrown to the floor in shock and terror as slates are lifted by the sudden ear-splitting crash as these huge monsters blast shock waves, causing people to tremble and livestock to scatter with huge risk of destruction, injury and death.
I took a place in the wilderness of South West Scotland to rid myself of this horror only to find myself a victim yet again with the added dread of an accident from loop-the-loop dog-fighting practice or games directly over my home!
With countless offshore islands that surround our coast, why is this deadly mainland practice allowed?
Why are innocent residents and visitors threatened in this way? And not just by British airmen. We are not in a war zone and yet we are made to suffer as though we were!
Politicians cannot morally justify the risk to life and property and so must step up to ban this activity over mainland Britain.
Meanwhile my sympathy goes out to the victims of this latest in a line of ‘low flight’ accidents. Air shows should only be permitted over beaches.
