CONISTON will be entertaining visitors from its twin town of Solto Collina over the weekend of September 4 and 5.
Solto Collina is in Lombardy, approximately 50 miles north east of Milan, and, like Coniston, is sited by a lake.
During the weekend the visitors will be taken on a guided tour of the Stott Park Bobbin Mill at Finsthwaite, near Newby Bridge, and have a chance to do some shopping in Coniston and Hawkshead.
The group will visit the Lowick Show on the Saturday where they will see displays of local crafts, home produce as well as agricultural competitions for sheep, cattle and horses. The group will try out some traditional English food at The Ship Inn, Coniston and a special taster menu at the local Indian restaurant.
To end the visit a Jacob’s Join supper and music will be provided at the Sports and Social Club in Coniston.
