A VIBRANT mix of familiar faces and new acts have been revealed for the new season at The Platform, Lancaster City Council's performing arts venue in Morecambe.

Fitting firmly into the former category are Hugh Cornwell, Ralph McTell, Showaddywaddy, Limehouse Lizzy, Chantel McGregor and the Houghton Weavers, who are amongst those making a welcome return to the venue.

Morecambe Brass Band and the Promenade Concert Orchestra are also back for another visit.

Live music fans can also look forward to treats including blues band King King, singer/songwriter Dean Friedman, John Doyle, the Steve Gibbons Band, Elbow Jane, Gerry Marsden, The Bay City Rollers starring Les McKeown and the Searchers.

Rounding off the programme are tributes to some of the greatest musicians of all time including Queen, Simon and Garfunkle, Billie Holiday, Elvis and Johnny Cash.

And away from music is wildlife cameraman Doug Allan, whose TV credits include Ocean Giants and Frozen Planet, who is bringing his one man show ‘Life Behind the Lens’ to the venue.

And as we come up to Christmas the Platform will be decking the halls for ‘A Classic Christmas’ featuring Christmas storytelling sessions, stalls, refreshments and two family festive theatre shows.
