POLICE in Kendal and staff at the Westmorland County Showground are urging motorists to follow the signs displayed when making their way to the County Show at Crooklands on Thursday (September 10).

Motorists coming from the south are encouraged to exit the M6 at junction 35, take the A601 (M) signposted Carnforth / Morecambe / A6, second exit at the roundabout onto the A6 and then second exit at the next roundabout onto the A6070 via Burton-in-Kendal.

There will be signage for the show.

For those coming from the north, the best route is to turn off the Brettargh Holt roundabout and head to Milnthorpe, turning left at the crossroads in the centre of the town.

Full details can be found on the County Showground website www.westmorlandshow.co.uk/westmorland_county_show_directions.html Motorists should expect heavy traffic and are urged to avoid the area if possible.

Inspector Paul Latham, from Kendal Police Station, said: “These routes may not be the normal way that people would travel if they know the area, but we really do urge everyone to follow them. They may not be the shortest routes but with the amount of traffic expected for the event, they will be the quickest.”
