FIREFIGHTERS, police officers and paramedics will all be housed in a new multi-million pound Furness Peninsula Blue Light Hub in Ulverston.

Cumbria County Council has secured an offer of £4.6 million from the Department for Communities and Local Government to deliver the new centre, which will be constructed on land adjacent to the A590 opposite the junction with Daltongate.

The new centre will provide:

• A new base for the Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service to replace the current facility on The Ellers.
• A new base for the North West Ambulance Service, also replacing the current facilities on Victoria Road.
• Facilities for Cumbria Police.
• Meeting rooms of varying sizes for use by the community.

It will be located on land allocated for development in the South Lakeland Local Plan.

A public drop-in event is being held at Ulverston Library from September 14 to September 19 and Coronation Hall, Ulverston, from 9.30am to 12.30pm on September 17, where representatives from Cumbria County Council will be on hand to answer questions.

Plans will be available shortly on the council’s website at www.cumbria.gov.uk.
