DRIVERS using the A590 in Cumbria are being warned about an overnight closure on Friday, September 25.

The eastbound carriageway between Brettargh Holt roundabout and junction 36 of the M6 will be shut as Highways England is carrying out 'essential wear and tear repairs'.

There will be a further closure of the carriageway around Pig Willy Wood between 8pm on Friday night and 6am on Saturday morning.

There are two diversion options for the Brettargh Holt to M6 eastbound closure with traffic able to join the M6 at junction 36 via the northbound A591 and A6 towards Kendal and the southbound A65.

Drivers can also join the southbound M6 at junction 35 at Carnforth by joining the southbound A6 from the A590 at Levens.
