A SOUTH Cumbria council has objected to a 25-acre solar farm plan it initially supported after public opposition.
Around 20 people attended a Dalton Town Council meeting on Monday (September 21) where councillors made the u-turn over the proposed 5MW plan on land north of the A590 between Askam Road and Broughton Road, north of Dalton.
Dalton Mayor and town councillor Wendy Maddox said the council made the decision after hearing from resident Jean Yool.
"We hadn't realised it was on a slope and will be seen from a lot of places, even in Dalton," said Coun Maddox.
Other concerns included the future of footpaths through the land.
