POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fatal crash on the A5092 on Friday morning.

Mark Anthony McNulty, 26, of Fir Trees Road, Lostock Hall, Preston, died after a collision which happened at 10.10am at Gawthwaite.

It involved a Ford Transit van, driven by Mr Mcnulty, and a HGV.

Mr Mcnulty was taken to Furness General Hospital by air ambulance where he later died as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the HGV, a 36-year-old man from Merseyside, suffered minor injuries.

Police are trying to contact the driver of a white vehicle, possibly a Subaru Impreza, which was coming from the direction of Broughton-in-Furness onto the A5092 at the time.

Officers said the vehicle was in no way involved in the collision, but may have information which could help the investigation.

Mr Mcnulty’s family are being supported by specially trained officers and enquiries around the circumstances of the collision are continuing .

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to call Cumbria Police on 101 and ask to speak to the Mobile Support Group.
