Carlisle: Friday, October 2 Breeding Cattle Sale Harrison & Hetherington held their sale of Beef Breeding cattle.

A smaller show of mixed quality cows and heifers with calves at foot were of offer, with all lots being well bid for, and selling well above the vendors expectations.

Breeding Rams At Borderway Mart on Friday 2nd October Harrison & Hetherington held their second main ram sale. A larger show of nearly 400 rams were sold to a packed ringside of buyers which ensure trade for all quality types was strong.

The sale topped at £850 for a tremendous Texel shearling from Messrs Batty of Flimby Hall, Maryport. Ram lambs had a fabulous trade throughout, with Messrs Storey of Woodhead, Haltwhistle selling a Dutch Texel lamb to £420.

Pedigree Sales -Easy Care Sheep Harrison & Hetherington held their Annual Autumn sale of Easy Care sheep on Friday 2nd October, which consisted of a larger entry of 536 Females and 25 Rams.

Topping the day’s trade in the ram section was a shearling ram from Playfair Farms, Morebattle, Kelso selling to 450gns and was purchased by Messrs J & S Wight of East Fortissat Farm, Lanarkshire.

Females topped at £90 twice, both for consignments of shearling gimmers. The first pen came from Messrs P Boustead of Meadowside, Lancaster and the second pen was shown by Messrs M Clark of Mid Derry, Perthshire, both of which were purchased by Messrs S & D Blaylock of Kirkend, Berwickshire.
