VOLUNTEERS at Ambleside Parish Centre are running a new home visiting service, to visit housebound people of all ages who, for whatever reason, struggle to get out and about and miss the company of others.
The scheme is being run in partnership with St Mary’s Church and Age UK. Anyone who would like a regular visit can contact 015394 34172 or email admin@amblesidepc.org.uk .
Housebound people can also give their permission to be referred by Ambleside Health Centre, Age UK, Citizens Advice, local churches or Ambleside Library.
A co-ordinator would then call to explain the visiting service before choosing a volunteer visitor to drop in and introduce themselves over a chat or a cup of tea.
Visits will normally be monthly, lasting 30-45 minutes or more frequently to suit, but volunteers will not be able to take on household chores, shopping or gardening.
