AMAZING pictures have emerged of one of nature's greatest phenomenons gracing South Lakeland's skies.
The Northern Lights were clearer than experts predicted, treating onlookers to an awesome show.
Stuart Atkinson, head of Eddington Astronomical Society, said: "It was a fully-fledged display with streamers and beams. This was a good one. It was amazing for this part of the world and it was a nice surprise.
"The Shap Road was clogged with people looking at it."
Stuart says it is worth keeping those eyes fixed on the sky for the next few nights because 'if you don't look then you definitely don't see anything'.
