MORE than 1,000 people in South Lakeland have added their names to a Europe-wide petition which raises concerns over potential health service implications arising from a new trade deal being negotiated between the EU and USA.

The signatures were collected by 38 Degree, a campaign group opposed to the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).

In Kendal, on Saturday, local campaigners handed a box of petition signatures to Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron 'to underscore concerns about the potential effects of TTIP'.

The petition has been signed by over three million people in Europe and now including1,073 in South Lakes.
