A DALES butcher has been hailed for his pork sausages in a prestigious competition for Yorkshire butchers.
George Taylor, who runs the butchery department at Country Harvest, Ingleton, emerged as reserve sausage champion at the 27th Great Yorkshire Pork Pie, Sausage & Black Pudding Competition on Sunday.
Mr Taylor was also recipient of the Devro Cup, having first won the thin pork sausage class and the Oris Shield with his breakfast banger.
Mr Taylor, 23, was taught the recipe as a 15-year-old when he first started working as a butcher in Ingleton.
He said: “I could hardly believe it – we’re all thrilled to bits,” he said, on learning of his reserve championship success on his Great Yorkshire debut. Country Harvest also came third in the thick pork sausage class. "
