FLOOD alerts are in force at a number of rivers throughout Cumbria with the Environment Agency warning of more bad weather to come.

The forecast for the week is to continue to be unsettled with strong winds at times.

More rain is forecast for this evening and it is predicted that it will be intense at times and prolonged into Wednesday morning.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of rain that is valid from 00:10 to 07:00 on Wednesday. It covers much of the Cumbrian fells, western parts of County Durham and into the northwest of North Yorkshire. In excess of 60mm of rainfall is likely on more exposed hill tops.

River levels are currently running high in many areas across the county and the Environment Agency has a flood warning in force for Keswick campsite due to flooding from Derwent Water Lake

Flood alerts in force at the Rivers Brathay, Rothay and Winster in South Lakeland.

The Environment agency is continuing to monitor the situation and will update flood warnings and flood alerts should the situation change.
