Farm Sale
Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP were pleased to conduct a farm sale on behalf of Messrs N & C Richards, Woodfoot Brampton.
A large turnout of friends, neighbours and customers form near and far travelled to Woodfoot on a blustery wet day. The tools and implements all extremely were well turned out and looked after, attracting a great deal of interest.
From the opening lot to the last customers gathered around the auctioneer, ensuring the Nicky and Chris had a most successful sale for their send off.

Prime Sheep
On Wednesday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their weekly sale of 4,141 prime sheep, comprising of 2,341 prime lambs, 1,004 cast ewes & rams & 796 store lambs.
Topping the sale on the day at 216p/kg was a pair of Beltex lambs from S Armstrong & Sons, Mooriggs and bought by Mr S Stoddart, Wigton.
Top price per head on the day at £87 for a pair of Texel Lamb from F Savage & Sons, Petteril Green purchased by Mr M Bowe, Keswick.
Prime lambs took off with an unbelievable average of 165.22p/kg SQQ being achieved with some classes of sheep being up to £10 up.
Cast ewes & rams sold to a sharper trade with the plain and horned ewes most noticeably dearer.

On Wednesday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 796 store lambs.
Another flying trade was witnessed following the prime lamb trade. Many vendors were highly delighted.
Topping the sale at £90 was a cracking black gimmer lamb from Mr S Robinson, Thrang Cragg, bought by Mr C Bennison, Leigh Croft.
