We six members of South Lakes Action on Climate Change from the Kendal area would like to express our profound sympathies for all the victims of the recent attacks in Paris. We will be travelling to the United Nations Climate Conference in Paris later this month to join large numbers of people who want to stand in peace and solidarity with the people of France while urging global leaders to act decisively to limit climate change and its effects on global peace and security.

Current global temperature trends pose a very real threat to vast swathes of humanity and to many fragile ecosystems. The time for effective and committed action on the part of global leaders is now.

Locally, we invite readers to join us at forthcoming events: a peoples' climate rally at Ambleside YHA at noon on Saturday, November 28, and a flashmob at Kendal market place at 1pm on Sunday, November 29. These and other events can be found at www.avaaz.org.
