A CHARITABLE Kendal man is using his facial fur to raise money for charity.

Chris Bownass, 46, is sporting a proud moustache as he takes part in Movember for the third year running in order to raise money for Cancer Care.

"Cancer affects everybody," said Chris, of Hallgarth.

"There's not a person in the world who it doesn't impact upon either directly or through relatives - a few members of my family have died from it.

"It would be wonderful for people to donate to Cancer Care."

Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron has voiced his support for Movember, which sees people grow a moustache throughout November in a bid to raise money for charity.

Mr Farron said: "I always enjoy seeing the moustaches that appear each Movember, but there is a serious side to the campaign too.

"Prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health issues are very common amongst men of all ages, and it is important that we raise awareness of them and encourage men to talk about these issues which they can be unwilling to address.”
