A WOMAN has been banned and fined for drink driving after travelling from a wedding in Darlington to Church Brough, near Kirkby Stephen, while under the influence of alcohol.

South Cumbria Magistrates Court heard that Amy Campbell, of New Bridge Street, Maryport, decided to make the journey after arguing with her family at a wedding on October 4.

The hearing was told that the 26-year-old was distressed following the argument and was intending to ‘seek solace’ by visiting her cousin in Church Brough.

A breath test by police revealed that Campbell had 60 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

She pleaded guilty to driving while over the drink drive limit.

District judge Gerald Chalk disqualified Campbell from driving for 17 months and ordered her to pay a £160 fine and £255 in costs and surcharges.
