THE Conservatives held the Carnforth and Millhead seat in last night's Lancaster City Council by-election.
George William Askew was elected with 545 votes from Labour's Paul Malcolm Gardner who polled 320.

It means the Conservatives now have 19 members on the council compared to Labour's 29.
The results were as follows: George William Askew (Conservative), 545; Christopher Bruce Coates (Green), 52; Philip Graham Kenneth Dunster (Lib Dems), 38; Paul Malcolm Gardner (Labour), 320; Michelle Ogden (UKIP), 37.
