BLACK Friday appears to be passing Kendal by as bargain hunters are staying at home.

Despite massive reductions, shoppers did not wake up at the crack of dawn to take advantage of the deals - such as £100 off every Apple iMac and MacBook Pro at Currys PC World in the South Lakeland Retail Park.

Whereas shops in Manchester and other parts of the country had people queuing-up overnight and rugby-style scrums at the tills, it was largely business as usual in Kendal.

However, despite there not being a mad rush, business is better than usual according to Andrew Graham, manager at Currys PC World.

"We've got big savings on televisions and some kitchen appliances as well as the Apple products and we've got all the staff in today because we're expecting 2,000 customers - normally we'd have 300," he said.

Burton, on Stricklandgate, have said that if customers buy one suit at full price they can get another blue slimline suit for just £1.

But, again, custom has been 'steady' - nothing like the chaos associated with Black Friday.
