THE Environment Agency is warning that high tides, strong winds and waves may combine to bring a risk of localised flooding along the Cumbrian coastline today and tomorrow.
Flood alerts are currently in force for the Cumbrian coastline from St Bees to Silloth and then onto Gretna and Fleetwood to Blackpool and the Wyre Estuary in Lancashire.

The EA says high tides, strong winds and large waves could lead to tidal spray and some overtopping of defences leading to flooding of low-lying land, roads and promenades.
Lee Preston of the Environment Agency said: “We continue to monitoring the situation closely with the Met Office and will issue flood alerts and warnings as required.
“It’s possible we could see some large waves and spray and urge people to take care near coastal paths and promenades and not to drive through flood water.
“People should also check their flood risk and keep up to date with the latest situation on the GOV.UK website at https://www.gov.uk/check-if-youre-at-risk-of-flooding or follow @EnvAgencyNW and #floodaware on Twitter for the latest flood updates.”
