A FIVE-year-old girl penned a moving letter within a home-made card to a Kendal flood victim.
Retired engineer John Hart, 73, whose Queen Katherine Street home was swamped by three-and-a-half feet of water in the recent floods, was "really touched" when the missive arrived out of the blue from Evie in Banbury.
Addressed to "A man hwo (sic) wants a home," inside it read: "To John. I'm sad because you have no home. I hope soon you will have a new (sic) one and lots of care. And in this card is lots of care and love. I will hope you will stay safe on Christmas if it snows. I hope you will stay nice and warm. And merry Christmas. Lots of love Evie."
Mr Hart said that Evie is the grand-daughter of friends and she acted after she heard them talking about John's plight.
"I felt quite emotional that a five-year-old girl would take this kind of thing on," said Mr Hart.
