A GROUP of Eden schoolchildren will have an out-of-this-world school trip next week as they take part in a live question and answer session with British astronaut Tim Peake.

Tim will call the lucky youngsters from space as part of an educational in-flight call to the World Museum in Liverpool on Tuesday.

Shap C of E Primary School was one of 10 schools chosen from 4,000 to join the ‘Cosmic Classroom’ event.

Vicki Capstick, Year 3 and 4 Class teacher, entered the children into a competition to send in videos of pupils asking the question that they would put to Tim Peake if they could speak to him.

Questions suggested by the pupils include: What home comforts do you miss? What do you do for fun? and Are you scared when you look down from space to Earth?

Head teacher Anne Maud said the children were ‘really excited, but very nervous’.

Tim Peake, the European Space Agency’s first British astronaut, travelled to the International Space Station in December 2015, where he will live and work until June this year.
