A CUMBRIAN-born visual artist is appealing for people across the county to film themselves lip-syncing James Bay’s hit ‘Hold Back the River’ for a flood appeal video.

Joseph Connor wants locals to grab a smartphone and film themselves in their flood-damaged homes or businesses, or next to ruined roads, footpaths or bridges.

Joseph, who said the song ‘became an anthem for those seeking to deal with the floods’ in December, will use the footage to create a short film highlighting the devastating effects of Storm Desmond on Cumbria.

He has obtained permission from Closer Artists, who look after James Bay, to use the song, royalty-free, as a soundtrack for the video.

Any money raised will go to Cumbria Community Foundation's Flood Recovery Appeal.
