I’m sure your readers would not appreciate a lengthy reply to the latest letter from Ian Kell (Letters, February 4, 'Mickey taken by councillors') so I will confine myself to pointing out that Ian’s reference to “savings (ie cuts)” is at the heart of his confusion.
If I didn’t know the difference between “savings” and “cuts to services” then I wouldn’t have stayed in business for 35 years and wouldn’t be looking after the finances of this council!
