A football team is measured by its success on the pitch. Fact. Anything after that is all about opinions. Opinions on the manager, the players, the quality of the pies etc are just that, opinions.

Kendal Town FC is not exempt from this and in my opinion, all the 'business plans', 'financial forecasts' and 'consultation periods' can all be torn up if Carlos Kick a Ball scores an own goal in 90+1 in an FA cup tie that sees your team not in the hat for the next round.

We have heard statements about looking for local talent and cash from within. This too, in my opinion, will not work. Years ago I held an FA coaching badge and coached at a slightly higher level of semi pro football than Kendal Town.

The club was in South London, we had ex pro players in the squad, youngsters that hadn’t made it at the pro outfits plus a plethora of similar semi pro clubs all within spitting distance of each other. Despite this geographic, we still struggled financially, only coming out of debt by selling the ground and the developers building us a new one.

Given Kendal's location, where are the players and cash going to come from? The talent and cash will have to come from a long way off if they are to realise any form of promotion from their current league.

The only viable option open to the club was in accepting the money from the consortium, to then stop the in-fighting and also work on retaining players, staff and the one man and his dog supporters club.

KTFC needs to wake up to the obvious, otherwise next season the team will be taking loan players from Roystonvasey.
