COUNCILLORS are looking into costs for providing play area equipment on the playing field of the former Low Bentham Primary School.
The equipment could cost up to £70,000 and councillors are exploring ways they can raise the cash.
Bentham Town Council has recently completed the purchase of the field, which has been 'informally' used as a play area by children since the school closed about five years ago.
The area has now been fenced and councillors have contacted several playground suppliers to see what equipment would be best suited to the project.
Bentham Town Council clerk Jo Burton said: "It's been quite a lengthy process to get to this stage, but now that the sale has been completed councillors are hoping it can be progressed quickly."
