THREE men charged as part of a probe into the death of a young Kendal Calling music festival visitor have appeared in court.

Simon Chapman, 21, Luke Nathan Fraser, 21, and Michael Mountfort, 42, are jointly charged with a drugs conspiracy allegation.

This is said to have been brought as part of an investigation into the death of 18-year-old Christian Pay, from Millom.

The teenager attended last year's festival near Penrith but died on 31st July having been admitted to Carlisle's Cumberland Infirmary.

Chapman, of Race Grove, The Green, Millom, along with Fraser, of Oakfield Grove, and Mountfort, of Oak Drive, Denton - both Manchester - appeared at Carlisle Magistrates' Court this morning.

They are charged with conspiring together to supply a class A drug, known as PMA, to another at Penrith between 16th April and 1st August last year.
During the brief hearing, it was confirmed that no pleas were being indicated to the charge by any of the men.

Their case was committed to Carlisle Crown Court, where they are next due to make an appearance on Monday, 14th March.

In the meantime, magistrates remanded Chapman, Fraser and Mountfort on unconditional bail.
