NEW figures have been released showing the best and worst GP surgeries for patient satisfaction.

The nation-wide survey asked patients about a range of performance areas at their surgeries including waiting times, ease of making appointment, quality of GPs and nurses, opening times, and overall experience.

Liverpool House Surgery in Barrow-in-Furness had some of the best feedback of surgeries in the South Cumbria and Eden areas - 100 per cent of people surveyed described their experience there as good, while 97 per cent would recommend the surgery to someone who has recently moved to the area.

One theme for the area's surgeries was poor waiting times. Just five of the 31 practices for which data could be found were above or level with the national average of people seen in 15 minutes or less of their appointment time. A massive 76 per cent of responders to the survey at Askam Surgery had a longer wait than 15 minutes.

On average in the area, 90% per cent of people described their experience as good; 85 per cent would recommend their surgery to someone new to the area; and 66 per cent were seen within 15 minutes or less of their appointment time.
