THE creative skills of keen young photographers from Cartmel Priory CE School have been recognised by their local Rotary club in the Rotary Young Photographer Competition.
Head teacher, Dr Paul Williams, and teacher, Gemma Brown, themselves keen photographers, had the challenging task of judging the entries along with Rotary Club of Grange-over-Sands member, John Biddlestone. The brief for each participant was to present three photographs and accompanying text addressing the theme Our World is Beautiful.
Rotarian Mr Biddlestone said: “The standard of the entries was very high indeed. The enthusiasm, creativity and photographic skills of the students shone through.”
The images covered a whole range of subjects from Lakeland scenes, innovative holiday snaps from abroad, people in their environment to wildlife and birdlife. ITunes vouchers to the value of £110, courtesy of the Grange club were awarded to the best six students.
A delighted Headteacher, Dr Paul Williams, said: “Well done to all pupils that took part in the competition. There were some really fantastic images. We obviously have some real talent in school and wish Emma and Isaac the best of luck with the next round.”
