CONISTON Mountain Rescue Team had three separate incidents to content with on Saturday, including assisting one woman with a badly broken arm.

The first rescue involved a man in his sixties who was taken ill while walking with family and friends above Torver.

Eight MRT members went to help at 12.57pm and he was stretchered from the fell to a Land Rover. He was transferred to the North West Ambulance Service who took him to Furness General Hospital.

While the first incident was underway, Team members who were marshalling the Coniston Fell Race became aware of a female competitor who had fallen near Swirl Hause and had broken her arm. She was assisted to one of the Team’s vehicles at Levers Water. She was later taken to FGH by NWAS land ambulance.

Thirteen members of Coniston Mountain Rescue Team went to the assistance of a lady who had fallen while walking near Swirl Hause above Coppermines Valley late on Saturday afternoon.

The woman was treated for an ankle injury and stretchered off the fell by Team members down to the dam at Levers Water. She was transferred to a North West Air Ambulance Aircraft for the onward journey to Furness General Hospital.
