A HOLLYWOOD actor says his journey to the red-carpet glamour of the Cannes Film Festival began 17 years ago at Sedbergh School.

Fraser Precious won a prestigious music scholarship to the Yorkshire Dales boarding school when he was 11, and was principal trumpet in the Westmorland Youth Orchestra.

Now 28 and living in Los Angeles, he created, produced and starred in the short film To Feel Human, which was screened recently at Cannes, on the French Riviera.

The 23-minute thriller tells the story of an angel who experiences human emotions for the first time, unaware of the consequences that lie ahead. The short had its premiere at the Nice International Film Festival.

"Seeing a film I created, produced and starred in premiere at Nice and Cannes Film

Festival recently was a dream come true," said the Cambridge-born actor.

"The reception and feedback we received was remarkable and has inspired me even more to continue acting and producing stories for the rest of my life. Creating inspiring stories is what the world needs and there is no better feeling than seeing an audience laugh or moved by the stories you create."

The film was shot and edited with film partner Junpei Suzuki in the space of two weeks in LA and has been nominated for several awards, as well as being accepted into three other international film festivals.

Fraser says he is thankful for the "incredible journey" that has led from his "roots in Cumbria and most notably Sedbergh School" - via spells in Sydney, Australia and Stockholm, Sweden - to an exciting career in Hollywood.

His next project is a feature film about that journey and his previous life as a professional trumpet player, to be called A Precious Life. Fraser has written the screenplay and plans to produce and star in it once he has raised the budget. He told the Gazette: "It is very relevant to my humble beginnings as a young talented trumpet player where I excelled at Sedbergh School as a musician, and my journey through four countries that took me to now be an actor and producer creating my own stories in Hollywood.
